New regulation for sea freight

On February 16th, CMA CGM announced on its official website that it would implement the "Freight Application Date will follow the actual departure date (ATD)" regulation for all export shipments from China to all trades expect Transpacific (North America). This regulation will come into effect on April 1st, 2022 (the actual sailing date).

In the case of calculating the freight according to the actual sailing date, if the spot freight rises during ship delay, the shipper will have to make up the difference. Therefore, the biggest impact of this provision on freight forwarders may be that the freight budget becomes uncontrollable.
